A little bird has told me Bad Science will be seeding the blog-sphere with this story.
If anybody knows a blog-writer, can you ask them if they have received anything along these lines and how the story came to them. Can they supply the full email (and complete its header information which is usually hidden). It would be interesting to find out if this has been at the suggestion of a PR Consultant. If he has employed a consultant, the email will probably included dangling carrots so as to deflect the blogger from independently checking the facts.

Has anybody else got any information or ideas on this?
It 'ill be a laugh if its true.

I spilt coffee over my keyboard over the 'fisking' of this part of Jeni Barnett's show,

For example, 'Martin', the 'lay scientist' says,

"Because homeopaths - who want to make money providing you with alternatives - are clearly an unbiased source. This is one of the greatest achievements of Alt Med - making people believe that they are a charity rather than a cut throat industry with little effective regulation."

This 'Martin' guy is a hoot! Has 'Marty' no sense of irony?

PS. It strikes me that it's daft people like 'Marty' who give bad science a good name - and vice versa - by shooting themselves in the foot.

I've lurked around here for a while, and I know the Bad Science community very well. A couple of factlets for you

The "response" to the show was orchestrated at The Lay Scientist, who coordinated the transcript (I know because I was asked to help on it). I am reliably informed that TLS is funded by Schwartz Communications, a London-based PR firm. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions on why a PR company is involved in a Bad Science blog.

There has only just been no new blog posting over the last hour according to Technorati.com (so they might have run out of sheeples to pass the word on), There are five pages of entries; although some blogs appear more than once.

I can easily imagine Frank Swain (writer for Dense about Science) had something to do with it as his blog appears early on.

So does the Sceptic Zone _(The podcast from austrailia for Science and reason...?!!!)

There is no way all of this could have happened so quickly without Pharma backing.
