i am planning on giving these when ds is 9 or 10 as i have been told if they catch the disease before then it is harmless, but do i give him both or just mumps? do those of you with boys just give the mumps one and give girls just rubella?

If I had a daughter I would go for the rubella jab. The mumps component of MMR is a menace delaying the disease so that it attacks a male age group with is more vulnerable to it - although it is not particularly dangerous.
