Hoping that someone might be able to help or at least share experiences here. Despite my (getting stronger) sceptical view towards vaccines, one of my teenagers insisted on getting the full plethora of travel vaccines before embarking on a tour of S.E Asia. You name it - the full works - rabies, japanese encephalitis, everything under the sun, or so it seems.
I advised her to do the research - even showed him an academic paper on japanese encephalitis which demonstrated that tourists do not need the vaccine as the chances of contracting the disease are about 3 in a million or something.
Anyway, I was ignored, much to my despair. As I strongly suspected, since returning from the trip, the now 20 year old has been plagued by health problems. Her health has been somewhat fragile since a bungled medical treatment she had as a young child for an infected joint which resulted in endless operations, chronic pain and some arthritis.
However, she had more or less overcome this. But since returning from the trip she has been plagued by chronic sinus problems, bad allergies, digestive problems. She is often unwell with colds and generally must less robust. I KNEW that she would react badly to the travel vaccines and it is my belief that they have further undermined her immune system. It is just so sad as I worked SO HARD to nurse her back to health following that bungled medical treatment and became incredily knowledgable about health and medical matters generally but she just would not listen to me and was heavily influenced by her friends and their parents. (Due to being a sceptic, she only received a few baby vaccines and no booster plus there were far fewer vaccines 20 years ago).
What can be done? I have read of parents on here having success with certain therapies, following childhood vaccine damage, can these also help with adults suffering adverse efffects from vaccines? I hate to think of her going all through her adult life plagued with chronic ill-health. Help!

Hi Jenny, I am sorry to hear about what happened to your daughter after having various travel vaccines, but I am not surprised. Back in 1984, when I willingly had several vaccines before traveling to Peru,I ended up experiencing various health problems which lasted for several years, unfortunately, and were quite debilitating. I became very sensitive to many different chemicals and could no longer continue working at my place of employment at a printing firm. Even though I had been driving since I was a teenager, I found it difficult to drive in even mildly heavy traffic without almost getting panic attacks, as I often felt like I may pass out from the smell of exhaust fumes. Also, I could no longer use any sorts of cosmetics (even soaps and moisturizers that I had previously used without problems) without suffering ill effects like rashes and swelling. Sometimes, when I was was walking on the street or waiting in line in a grocery store, I would feel light-headed and about to pass out. This was all very scary, as I had not experienced anything like this before having those vaccines. I had a yellow fever shot and a tetanus shot (included in a DPT shot), which likely contained ethyl mercury back in 1984. There was no magic "cure" for any of this, other than for me to avoid substances/environments which made me feel worse. I had to quit my job, move, and find a different way of making a living. For many years, I did more walking and/or short trips on public transit rather than driving, to get around. Also, I found that when I ate (and slept) well and avoided junk food, and took supplements, I usually felt much better. There is a lot more that I could explain here, but I'll try to keep this short. I am not sure about what will work for your daughter, Jenny, but for me, avoiding things which made my symptoms worse helped, as well as eating a healthier diet, and taking various supplements (especially Vitamins D3, B12, C, and others like CoQ10 and Omega-3). As for my children, I have done whatever I could do in recent years, to exempt them from any further vaccines, and to explain to them why they should be wary of vaccines in general. I told them too, that they may be more susceptible to mercury in vaccines, because I had many (over a dozen) mercury-containing amalgams when all of them were in utero. I do believe that many of them were affected by that to some degree. Jenny, it took me years to get back to some modicum of feeling "normal", healthwise. I, too, experienced the digestive and sinus problems when my kids were much younger. However, now, despite my more advanced age, I am rarely ill with colds/flus. I haven't quite figured out why this is. Some of my kids who drink glucose-fructose-laden soft drinks are ill often with colds and flu-like illnesses, but those of us who avoid these drinks are faring better. All the best to you and your daughter,

Thank you! I think now my daughter is a little older she has some awareness that the battery of travel vaccines did not do her immune system any favours. She now has an inhaler (never had asthma before) and has also become incredibly allergic to cats. Plus she reacts quite badly to certain foods. And her sinuses get infected.
Really, it's astonishing - as a child (before the bungled medical treatment) she was really healthy, had no allergies or asthma and seldom had colds. She was never really ill. Even after the bungled medical treatment she never had allergies or excema or the ENT problems.
Other friends of my teenagers who had all the travel vaccines before going travelling have also subsequently had problems like worstening of symptoms of asthma, other ENT problems and allergies.
Ironically, their friends who did get sick or hurt when travelling had had all the travel vaccines - but they cannot protect you from the most likely culprits like unclean water/lack of hygiene/excess alcohol/dangerous roads.
One of my other daughters did some voluntary work in India without having any travel vaccines (I refused to pay for them - some are incredibly expensive - what a racket!) and she was fine as she was very careful about hygiene and food/drink. Did her the world of good as she was eating a very healthy vegetarian diet with no junk food or sugary drinks at all for a month.
It's interesting what you say about passing out - this has also happened to my daughter quite a few times since the travel vaccines.
I will check on what supplements she is taking. Maybe it is worth getting a few tests done in terms of allergies plus where she might be deficient in something.
I suppose the only positive thing to have come out of this episode is that my daughter now seems to have some awareness that vaccines are not the universal panacea that they are made out to be and there can be adverse effects. I suppose we all have to learn the hard way about these things as there is a tendency to think: 'it will never happen to me' - until it does.
